A lecture summary The study of peoples’ relations has the following characteristics. ① The object of this study is to understand direct relations / interchanges / networks, the economic activities of the de-border by the peoples beyond the frame of the one-country-one-nation. ② We recognize economic activities in the life world focusing on the peoples’ relations,relations between peoples and the society (the power of the state, history,culture, climate), local environmental circularity / sustainability. ③ We clarify the essence of local,peoples’ problems by the concrete argument and analysis based on interdisciplinary techniques,and by learning many case studies through fieldworks. ④ Researcher oneself has person concerned awareness and shows policies and suggestions to solve various problems and to improve the problematic situations. ⑤ Study participants learn the study of peoples’relations each other through workshops, fieldworks. ⑥ Minorities,peoples at the lower levels of society reexamine the relation of ruler- ruled and study about practical intellect, methodology, the policy theory to escape from the predicament that themselves face. ⑦ It is area study by peoples themselves through considering many problems that local peoples have concretely from a multidirectional point of view, and through thinking about a route to the solution with local peoples.
According to basic characters of the study of peoples’ relations,I will discuss Ryukyu chain of islands, Pacific Islands as main study cases and argue with students each other about these islands. Next,while you will associate their own research theme with the study of peoples’ relations,you will make an oral report of the results of yours research and argue mutually. With study technique called the study of peoples’ relations, I think that you can think about your own research theme from a new viewpoint.
